This listing is for a genuine Land Rover swing away spare wheel carrier for the Classic Defender (Half Swing Door models).

This was originally designed for the Land Rover WOLF military vehicles (military spec vehicle based on the Defender).

This carrier is only suitable for the half swing doors as fitted to the soft top Defender - this listing is not suitable for the full door models (you need a conversion bracket which isn't available at this time).

This is a genuine Land Rover accessory which is manufactured for Land Rover by Mantec.

The purpose of this design of wheel carrier is to take the weight of the spare wheel off the back door by the mount on the chassis.

Fitting one of these will reduce the creaking and groaning you car can make when going over bumps as the majority of the weight of the spare wheel is supported by the chassis - not the bodywork.

The unique Mantec piston carrier allows one swinging action to open the back door with the wheel carrier attached.

This is a Mantec patented design and these items are getting very hard to get hold of.

This is a brand new genuine Land Rover item in retail packaging - these are now obsolete at Land Rover.

This item WILL fit the Land Rover Classic Defender Half Swing Door models

This item WILL NOT fit Classic Defenders with the full rear door (you need a conversion bracket which we are in the process of designing)
